Girls Basketball Roundup: B-P girls claim tournament title

BROADALBIN – Kaitlin Wood finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Broadalbin-Perth girls basketball team to a 54-27 win over Stillwater in the championship game of the Broadalbin-Perth Holiday Tournament on Wednesday.

The Lady Patriots led 22-9 at the half on their way to the win.

Katie Herba posted 10 points and seven assists for B-P (4-3 overall), while Rachel Orapello, Kylie Gifford and Monica Magliocca all finished with six points.

Elizabeth Zehner, Brooke Farrell, Tori Menneto and Jackie Merchant all finished with five points to pace Stillwater (3-4 overall).

In the consolation game, Hudson posted a 39-34 win over Canajoharie.

Cortlynn Jepsen scored 16 points to lead the Lady Bluehawks (5-4 overall).

Lauren Balfe scored 11 points to lead Canajoharie (5-5 overall), while Jenelle Dillenbeck finished with 10 points.

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Tereza VanOlst scored a season-high 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Dolgeville to a win over St. Johnsville.

Marissa Chavez and Lyndsey Stoehrer each finished with six points for Dolgeville (6-3 overall). Stoehrer also had eight assists, three rebounds and three steals for the Blue Devils, while Chavez added 12 rebounds and seven steals.

Rylie Smith scored 18 points to lead St. Johnsville (0-5 overall), while Samantha Cleveland posted 10 points. Jessi Hagadorn added eight points for the Saints.
