Johnstown girls place fifth at West Mountain

QUEENSBURY – The Johnstown boys alpine ski team finished seventh and the girls team placed fifth at the Niskayuna Invitational on Wednesday at West Mountain.

Christian Brothers Academy’s P.J. Kotecki won the boys race with a time of 26.55 seconds. Niskayuna’s Philip Weeber (27.00 seconds) was third and CBA’s Michael Merecki (27.59) was third.

Queensbury won the boys team title with 24 points. Niskayuna (32 points) was second and Saratoga Springs (35) was third.

Johnstown was seventh with 75 points.

Joel Levin led Johnstown, placing 17th with a time of 29.56 seconds.

Colin Dalmata (29.72) was 20th for the Sir Bills, while Nick Salatel (32.97) was 38th. Lukas Levin (33.82) was 47th for Johnstown, Austin Stergas (36.63) was 53rd and Noah Western (37.77) was 59th.

Shenendehowa’s Julia Smith won the girls race with a time of 27.65 seconds.

Queensbury’s Samantha Ballard (28.44) and Olivia Paolano (28.80) were second and third, respectively.

Queensbury won the girls team title with a total of 11 points. Shenendehowa (15 points) was second and Saratoga Springs (32) was third. Johnstown finished fifth with a total of 72 points.

Sara Kosowicz led Johnstown with a 14th-place finish as she posted a time of 31.28 seconds.

Hannah Keener (33.81) was 27th for the Lady Bills, while Serena Smith (34.93) was 31st.

Reily Kotwasinski (37.47) was 38th for Johnstown, Emily Havlicek (40.29) was 46th, Whitney Western (40.35) was 47th and Helaina Stergas (41.57) was 51st.
