NORTH RIVER – The Mayfield girls nordic ski team placed fourth at the Lake George Invitational on Monday at Garnet Hill, while the boys placed fifth.
Mayfield’s Lidija Nikollaj was the top area finisher in the girls race, placing eight with a time of 17:59.
Emily Cromie (19:12) was 13th for the Lady Panthers, while Sarah Montgomery (19:28) was 16th. Hanna Cromie (20:03) was 23rd for Mayfield and Allie Miller (21:48) was 32nd
Morgan Swedick led Johnstown, placing 27th with a time of 20:09.
Kayla Groesbeck (23:00) was 43rd for the Lady Bills, Hannah Chamberlain (23:53) was 53rd, Quincey Brabant (24:04) was 54th and Jerica Holland (24:25) was 58th.
Lake George’s Emma Underwood won the girls race with a time of 15:01. Queensbury’s Megan Kellogg (16:09) was second and Shenendehowa’s Sarah Duclos (16:52) was third. Scotia-Glenville’s Becca Kraines (17:08) was fourth and Shenendehowa’s Amy Duclos (17:17) was fifth.
Scotia-Glenville won the girls team title with a total of 17 points, while Queensbury was second with a total of 22.
Shenendehowa (30 points) was third, Mayfield (37) was fourth and Guilderland (45) was fifth. Johnstown placed ninth with 150 points.
In the boys race, Mayfield’s Tom McClellan was the top area finisher, placing fourth with a time of 29:20.
Mitch Akowicz (32:31) was 14th for Mayfield, Brent Gray (39:19) was 35th and Austin Davis (42:42) was 39th.
Eric Brower led Johnstown, placing 18th with a time of 32:57, while Cameron Roten (35:33) was 29th and Jack Brabant (40:49) was 38th.
Shenendehowa’s Austin Huneck won the boys race with a time of 27:11, while Queensbury’s Ben Anderson was second with a time of 27:20. Saratoga Springs’ Seth Mares (28:15) was third and Queensbury’s Liam Mulshine (29:37) was fifth.
Queensbury edged Shenendehowa by a 20-21 margin to win the boys team title. Saratoga Springs (29 points) was third, Johnsburg (50) was fourth and Mayfield (53) was fifth. Johnstown was eighth with 85 points.
