H.S. Baseball Roundup: Mayfield tops Middleburgh

MIDDLEBURGH – Bobby Gates pitched a two-hitter to lead Mayfield to a 3-1 win over Middleburgh in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday.

Gates struck out 14 and walked four to earn the complete-game victory.

Riley Yager had two hits for the Panthers, who improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in WAC play.

Brandon Richards allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked six on the mound for Middleburgh.

Ryan Putman and Asa Snyder each had a single for the Knights.

ALBANY – Jonardy Anil had a double, two singles and two RBIs to lead Amsterdam to a win over Bishop Maginn.

Jason Agresta, Rob Sherlock and Dan Renwick each had two singles for the Rams, who pounded out 17 hits in the game.

Dylan Angelo earned the win on the mound for Amsterdam (3-1 overall, 2-0 Big 10), striking out seven in three innings of work.

Agresta struck out three and allowed no hits in three innings for the Rams.

Darrien Higgins plated Bishop Maginn’s lone run with a third-inning sacrifice fly.
