H.S. Baseball Roundup: Gloversville loses to Ichabod Crane, 8-7

GLOVERSVILLE – Ichabod Crane scored once in the top of the seventh on its way to an 8-7 win over Gloversville in a non-league baseball game Saturday at Husky Field.

The Riders trailed 6-2 after three innings before outscoring the Huskies 6-1 over the final four innings.

Pierce Reilly had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for Ichabod Crane, while Brandon McKay, Nate Issler, Mark Wright and Nick Ferrari each had a single and an RBI.

Mike Fancher was 4-for-4 for Gloversville with two triples, an RBI and two runs scored.

Mike Murray was 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Huskies, while Chris Rockefeller had a triple. Anthony Oathout had a single and a run scored for Gloversville (6-8 overall), which won 9-2 Ichabod Crane on April 1.

Gloversville will travel to Scotia-Glenville on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. Foothills Council contest.

Johnstown 20, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 6

JOHNSTOWN – Grant Gyldervand had a three-run double and a single, powering Johnstown to a non-league win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Gyldervand also picked up the win on the mound, combining with Patrick Morrison, Connor Askew and Mike Everest on a five-hitter.

Matt Szurek had a single and a double for Johnstown (8-4 overall), while Joey Henderson added a triple.

Kyle Gibbs had a triple for Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

QUEENSBURY – Charlie Peltz pitched a complete-game no-hitter to lead Queensbury to a shutout win over South Glens Falls on Friday.

Peltz struck out 14 and walked two to earn the victory.

Eric Wettersten had a two-run double for the Spartans (9-3 overall, 7-2 Foothills), while Phil Wettersten had two hits. Alston Moses added an RBI singles for Queensbury, which scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Josh Hay took the loss for South Glens Falls (7-8 overall, 4-5 Foothills), allowing four hits.

QUEENSBURY – Dylan O’Sick hit a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh, lifting Glens Falls to a win over Hudson Falls on Friday.

Mike Harrington earned the win on the mound for the Indians, allowing three hits and striking out 15 in seven innings of work. Harrington also had two singles for Glens Falls (5-6 overall, 3-6 Foothills).

Chris Stevens had a double for Hudson Falls (3-8 overall, 1-8 Foothills), while James Scally and Ethan Kelsey each had singles.
