GLOVERSVILLE – Mountain Valley Hospice and the Mayfield Yacht Club will host their annual Charity Cup Regatta for Hospice on Aug. 3 on the Great Sacandaga Lake.
The event offers a day of activities for everyone.
There will be a poker run for kayaks, canoes or leisure boaters that will begin at Rondack Roots Marina on Lakeside Drive in Mayfield from 1 to 4 p.m.
This leisurely run for boats 15 feet and under will include five stops where participants can pay to upgrade their poker hands.
The first-place team in the event will receive a kayak donated by Adirondack Kayak Warehouse.
Personal flotation devices are required and children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration for the poker run costs $20 per vessel and may be done through Rondack Roots Marina (613-4366).
Those interested in learning more about sailing may join a spectator boat.
There are boat owners willing to invite guests to watch the races Aug. 3. They will pick up spectators and return them to Lanzi’s on the Lake in time for the regatta party. There are limited spaces available, so registration is a must.
Visit MayfieldYachtClub.com and click on Hospice Regatta. There is a suggested donation of $15 per adult (free for children 14 and younger) that will go directly to Mountain Valley Hospice.
There also will be the skipper’s party on Aug. 3.
This year’s party will take place under a tent at Lanzi’s on the Lake, and a DJ be live on location.
Tickets are required for this event and cost $25 each.
Tickets can be purchased through Rondack Roots Marina Mountain Valley Hospice (725-4545).
The top sponsors for the 2013 Regatta are Robison & Smith, Rondack Roots Marina, Ed and Sue Grover, and Adirondack Kayak Warehouse.
All proceeds from this event go to further the mission of Mountain Valley Hospice: to provide hospice care to all appropriate patients and families in Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery and Saratoga Counties.
