Pelosi double winner at Royal

CAROGA LAKE -A field of 256 riders took part in the second day of competition at the two-day Central New York Motocross Riders Association event Sunday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Five area riders picked up wins on the second day of Monster Energy Drink motocross competition.

Johnstown’s Adryan Pelosi was a double winner on the day, picking up victories in the 122-Open Am and Collegeboy 14- to 24-year-old divisions.

Gloversville’s Reid Persch won the 122-250cc beginner class and placed second in the 122-open beginner division.

Fonda’s Tyler Blowers won the Junior Mini 9- to 11-year-old division and placed fourth in the Open Mini 10- to 16-year-old division.

Mayfield’s B.J. Smith took home top honors in the Plus 25 Expert division, while placing fourth in the 122-Open Expert class.

Amsterdam’s Matthew Hirschfeld topped the field in the Mini Quad 51-90cc competition.

Bovina’s Ryan Sluiter claimed wins in three different classes, winning the 25 two-stroke, schoolboy 12- to 16-year-old and 122-250 amateur classes. -open expert, 122-250cc expert and plus 25 expert classes.

Schoharie’s Todd Cleveland won the plus 45 expert and plus 40 expert classes, while Whitesboro’s Mitch Dougherty won the 122-open expert and 122-250 open expert classes and Schaghticoke’s John St. Gelais claimed victories in the plus 30 and plus 40 amateur divisions.

Other winners Sunday included Bridgeport’s Joseph Tornabene (50cc pee wee junior 4-6), Scotia’s Chad Forstell (50cc pee wee senior 7-8), Cohoes’ Jerome Dawson (50cc oil injected), Frankfort’s James Demko (plus 45 am), Pennellville’s Dominic Grenga (65cc 7-9), Watertown’s Caleb Shepard (65cc 10-11), Round Lake’s Britney Wager (women’s), Greenville’s Billy Bashwinger (122-open beginner), Delanson’s Nathan Hickok (122-open novice), Sauquoit’s Jim Joy (plus 30 expert), Sloansville’s Mark Molesky (85cc 12-15), Vernon’s Aaron Bell (plus 25 am), Sherburne’s Tyler Bigford (122-250 novice), Jordan’s Ryan Meili (open mini 10-16) and Frankfort’s Todd Kinne (plus 30 novice).

Quad class winners include Marcy’s Anthony Ambrose (quad novice), Lowville’s Mike Mealus (plus 25), Pattersonville’s Dakota Black (schoolboy 12-16), Moira’s Cortney Grant (schoolgirl 12-16), Scotia’s Eric Junquera (quad am), Parish’s Chris Davis (quad expert) and Malone’s Dylan Warner (mini quad 50cc production).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes Sunday.

Gloversville’s Adam Handy posted a second place finish in the 122-250 expert division and was third in the 122 open expert class.

Canajoharie’s Ricky Lippman placed second in Collegeboy 14-24, while Fonda’s Dominick Mancini placed fourth in the 122-250 beginner division.

Johnstown’s Brandon Handy was fifth in the 65cc 10- and 11-year-old class and Jason Morrison Jr. was third in the miniquad 51-90cc production division.

Amsterdam’s Kaitlyn Phillips was second in the women’s class, while Steven Cuomo was runner-up in the 122-open novice class.

Fonda’s Clayton Blowers placed third in the plus 40 expert division, while Fort Plain’s Brody Zelezny was fifth in the 122-250 expert class.
