FMCC women lose season opener, 4-0

JOHNSTOWN – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women’s soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Clinton Comunity College in its season opener Wednesday.

Kyli Swires, Kenna Agoney and Lyndale Nephew all scored first-half goals for the Cougars, who led 3-0 at the break.

Swires started the scoring 17:13 into the game before Agoney scored 25:08 into the first half. Nephew closed out the first half scoring with a penalty kick 30:09 into the half.

Agoney scored the lone second-half goal with 14:51 remaining in the game on an assist from Kiley Wilkins.

The game was halted at that point due to FMCC having low numbers.

Clinton finished with a 29-5 edge in shots.

Courtney Backus made four saves to earn the shutout win in goal for Clinton, which hosts Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Sisina Macchiarelli made 22 saves for FMCC (0-1 overall), which hosts Onondaga Community College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
