GLENS FALLS – Johnstown’s Erica Askew set a new pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke during Wednesday’s Foothills Council girls swim meet at Glens Falls.
Askew won the race with a time of 1:08.59, eclipsing the record previously held by Queensbury’s Eileen Goralski. Askew’s time also qualified her for the state championship meet.
Askew also won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:15.68 and was part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Johnstown (0-2 overall) won eight of 12 events, but Glens Falls used its depth to win the meet, 85-77.
Erica Wagner won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly for the Lady Bills, while Emily Miles (100 freestyle) and Cecelia Mowrey (200 freestyle) also posted wins.
Bre Mallory (1-meter diving), Hannah Morrissey (50 freestyle) and Mia Cote (500 freestyle) posted wins for Glens Falls, which also won the 200 freestyle relay.

GLOVERSVILLE – Gloversville-Mayfield won nine of 12 events on its way to a Foothills Council win over Hudson Falls-South Glens Falls at the Gloversville Middle School pool.
Jennifer Vickery won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke for Gloversville-Mayfield, while Jenna Cordone (200 freestyle), Sam Stewart (50 freestyle), Desiree Ives (500 freestyle) and Kylie Cotugno (100 butterfly) also posted wins.
Gloversville-Mayfield (1-0) also won the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
Kailyn Anselment won the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle for Hudson Falls-South Glens Falls, while Jessica Erickson (1-meter diving) also posted a win.
