Schalmont rallies to defeat Patriots, 21-3

BROADABLIN – The Schalmont Sabres broke open a close game late in the fourth quarter to defeat Broadalbin-Perth 21-3 Friday night at Broadalbin-Perth High School.

Hunter Gac opened the game with a one-yard touchdown run for the Sabres (4-0) and the Patriots drove the ball and came away with a 27-yard field goal from Zach Morreale but trailed 7-3 at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Schalmont drove to the 9-yard line before Sabres quarterback Dalton Cooke hooked up with Devon Willis for a touchdown pass with 8:14 left in the game. Trevon Perez-Tucker added a 4-yard touchdown run late in the game to cap off the Sabres’ victory.

Broadalbin-Perth held Willis to 72 yards rushing on 17 carries, while Nick Gallo carried the ball 14 times for 58 yards. Gallo also caught three passes for 12 yards.
