Boys Soccer Roundup: Mayfield boys lose to Maple Hill in overtime, 1-0

SCHODACK – Nick Fettuccia scored with 3:12 left in the first overtime, lifting second-seeded Maple Hill to a 1-0 win over seventh-seeded Mayfield in the quarterfinals of the Section II Class C Tournament on Friday.

Brandon Gerrian assisted on the goal for the Wildcats.

Tom Miller didn’t need to make a save to post the shutout win in goal for Maple Hill, which outshot the Panthers 12-1.

Lucas VanNostrand made 11 saves for Mayfield.

Mayfield ended its season with a 10-5-3 overall record.

Class C First Round

Lake George 4, Canajoharie 0

LAKE GEORGE – Blake Keenan finished with a goal and an assist, leading top-seeded Lake George to a first-round win over 17th-seeded Canajoharie.

John Rubado, Isaiah Gowen and Luke Vanderminden also scored for the Warriors, while Ian Quillinan and Andrew Zibro each had an assist.

Jeff Nataly made just one save to post the shutout win in goal for Lake George. Sam May posted 19 saves for Canajoharie.

Lake George (15-1-1 overall) will face eighth-seeded Saratoga Catholic on Monday at 3 p.m. in the Class C quarterfinals.

Canajoharie ended its season with a 4-14 overall record.

Class B First Round

Schalmont 10, Fonda-Fultonville 0

ROTTERDAM – Chris Hamilton scored four goals, leading second-seeded Schalmont to a shutout victory over 18th-seeded Fonda-Fultonville.

Gino Rossi scored three times for the Sabres, while Zach Ericson, Cameron LaVallee and Joe Wignot also scored.

Alex Chairavalle made just one save to post the shutout win in goal for Schalmont. Tyler Folmsbee made 17 saves for Fonda-Fultonville (4-13 overall).

Section VII Class D Quarterfinals

Wells 3, Westport 0

WELLS -Adrian Collado scored twice for third-seeded Wells, while Matt Michienzi scored once in a win over sixth-seeded Westport Thursday.

Ken Chicoski had two assists for the Indians, while Seth Weaver and Nick Taylor each had one assist.

Ben Brenan made seven saves to post the shutout win in goal for Wells. Sam Napper made eight stops for Westport.

Wells will travel to second-seeded Elizabethtown-Lewis on Monday for a 3 p.m. semifinal contest. The Lions posted a 2-1 win over seventh-seeded Crown Point on Thursday.
