Boys Soccer Roundup: Wolves edge Cougars, 3-2

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Devan Battisti had a goal and an assist for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Canajoharie in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Wednesday.

The Wolves trailed 2-1 at the half before scoring a pair of second-half goals to earn the win.

Andrew Hart and Tristan Engle also scored for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (6-4-1 overall, 6-4-1 WAC).

Jacob Martin and Michael Mazzarella scored for Canajoharie (2-10 overall, 2-10 WAC).

Nate Trumbull made two saves for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, while Sam May made 16 stops for Canajoharie.

Saratoga Catholic 3, Fort Plain 0

FORT PLAIN – Ryan Czarnecki finished with a goal and an assist, leading Saratoga Central Catholic to a shutout win over Fort Plain.

Luke Spicer and Nick Cavotta also scored for the Saints.

Joe Schmidt made just one save to post the shutout win in goal for Saratoga Catholic (7-3-1 overall).

James May made eight saves for Fort Plain (4-8 overall, 4-8 WAC).

Middleburgh 0, Schoharie 0

SCHOHARIE – Middleburgh and Schoharie played to a scoreless draw in a Western Athletic Conference South Division contest.

Austin Smith made nine saves for Middleburgh (5-4-1 WAC), while Justin Montione made eight saves for Schoharie (8-1-2 WAC).

Duanesburg 6, Sharon Springs 1

SHARON SPRINGS – Mikkel Roade finished with four goals to lead Duanesburg to a win over Sharon Springs.

Zach Wissenbach and Mitchell Hubert also scored for the Eagles (3-6-2 WAC), while Jason St. John had two assists.

Mason Handy scored the lone goal for Sharon Springs (0-10 WAC).

Galway 1, Mekeel Christian 0

GALWAY – Austin Scheeren scored the game’s lone goal to lead Galway to a win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Quinn Smith had an assist for the Eagles.

Robbie Baron made three saves for Galway (3-8 WAC).

Colonial Council

Mechanicville 3, Fonda-Fultonville 1

MECHANICVILLE – Mike Cannizzo scored twice, leading Mechanicville to a victory over Fonda-Fultonville.

Nick Vermilyea also scored for the Red Raiders, while Colby DeMarco and Eric Krasuski each had an assist.

Christian VanAvery scored the lone goal for Fonda-Fultonville (3-9 overall, 3-9 Colonial), which outshot Mechanicville 28-18.

Logan Polzinello made 12 saves for Mechanicville (3-8 Colonial), while Tyler Folmsbee made five stops for FFCS.

Foothills Council

Queensbury 2, South Glens Falls 1 (OT)

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Cole Crotty scored the game-winning goal in overtime on an assist from Jimmy Doty, lifting Queensbury to a win over South Glens Falls.

Doty also scored in regulation for the Spartans on an assist from Seth Weingart.

Teddy Bruschini scored the lone goal for South Glens Falls (9-4 overall, 9-2 Foothills).

Tyler Raymond posted five saves for Queensbury (12-1 overall, 10-1 Foothills), while Evan Brooks had five saves for South Glens Falls.
