Field Hockey Roundup: Queensbury deals Lady Bills loss

QUEENSBURY – The Queensbury Lady Spartans dealt the Johnstown Lady Bills their first league loss of the season, 2-1, in Foothills Council field hockey action Thursday at Queensbury High School.

Queensbury (5-3 league, 6-4 overall) got goals from Maddie Nelson and Katie Zilka off assists from Aisling McAllister and Christie Raymond.

The Lady Bills (7-1 Foothills) goal came off the stick of Nicole Bentley.

Kristin Wright made six stops in goal for Johnstown, while Queensbury goalkeeper Christina Galatioto stopped eight.

The Lady Spartans held a 12-8 edge in penalty corners in the match.

Scotia-Glenville 3, Gloversville 0

SCOTIA – Jennifer Mayette scored twice to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council win over Gloversville.

Katelyn McLaughlin also scored for the Lady Tartans (3-7 overall, 3-5 Foothills), while Amanda Kot and Ashley O’Neil each had an assist.

Naudia Smith made four saves to post her third shutout of the season for Scotia-Glenville.

Bailey Pieniazek made 11 stops for Gloversville.
