ALBANY – The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls indoor track and field team each placed second Saturday at the Colonial Council Championships at the University at Albany.
In the boys meet, La Salle won the team title with 110 points, while FFCS was second with 61 points, Albany Academy (58 points) was third and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (53) was fourth.
Damion Freeman was second in the 1,600 meters for the Braves with a time of 4:52.88. Freeman also was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 4-9 1/2.
Ben Vardai-Davidson (8.49 seconds) was second in the 55-meter hurdles, while Ian Coyne (10.05) was sixth. Vardai-Davidson also placed second in the pole vault with a height of 12-6 and third in the long jump with a leap of 18-7 1/4.
In the weight throw, Chris Yarush (30-10) was third for Fonda-Fultonville, while Bryan Finn (30-5) was fourth. Finn (40-3 1/4) also was third in the shot put.
Connor Handon (36-1) was third in the triple jump for the Braves, while Shane Barker (1:38.53) was fifth in the 600 meters.
Shawn Lansing (3:11.17) was sixth in the 1,000 meters for FFCS, while Aidan Zenzen (11:58.44) was sixth in the 3,200 meters.
Fonda-Fultonville was third in the 4 x 400 relay and third in the 4 x 800 relay.
In the girls meet, Holy Names claimed the team title with 124 points, while Fonda-Fultonville was second with 109 points.
Cohoes (61), Cobleskill-Richmondville (39) and Schalmont (33) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the team standings.
The team of Lydia Brown, Mariah VanAvery, Jamie Kasza and Hailie LaPratt won the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 10:36.91.
Kasza (3:17.92) was second in the 1,000 meters for the Lady Braves, while Kacie Hunter (3:30.52) was sixth.
Hunter also was fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:28.68.
In the 3,000 meters, LaPratt (11:56.89) was second and VanAvery (12:13.97) was third for Fonda-Fultonville.,
Ryleigh Hesch won the pole vault for FFCS with a height of 7-0.
Alesha Heacock was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.92 seconds for the Lady Braves, while Brittany Castelluccio (7.89 seconds) was third in the 55-meter dash.
In the high jump, Castelluccio (4-8) was third and Heacock (4-6) was fifth.
Castelluccio also was second in the long jump with a leap of 16-1, while Emma Rhodes (15-2 1/2) was third.
Heacock was second in the triple jump with a leap of 33-6 1/2.
Allie Krohn was third in the shot put with a throw of 31-4 3/4 for FFCS, while Meaghan MacDougall (17-4) was fourth in the weight throw.
Skyler Hesch was third in the 300 meters with a time of 47.79 seconds for the Lady Braves.
Fonda Fultonville was second in the 4 x 200 relay and fifth in the 4 x 400 relay.
