Mekeel Christian tops Johnstown

SCOTIA – Johnstown’s Devin Boyle connected for six 3-pointers en route to his game-high 26 points but it was not enough as Mekeel Christian Academy held off a fourth-quarter surge by the Sir Bills to pick up a 71-62 non-league victory Saturday at Mekeel Christian Academy.

Johnstown held a 16-15 first-quarter advantage before the Lions outscored the Sir Bills 44-23 in the second and third quarters. Mekeel Christian had enough of a lead to hold off a 23-point fourth quarter run from Johnstown and get the win.

Ben Wager added 13 points for Johnstown (6-11 overall).

Carter Stewart led Mekeel Christian with his 24-point performance, while Kevin Braye finished with 18 points and Deonte Holder chipped in with 11.
