Amsterdam girls win Foothills title

GLENS FALLS – The Amsterdam girls basketball team held off a fourth-quarter rally from the Glens Falls Indians to win the Foothills council championship game 59-56 Thursday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

South Division champion Amsterdam (15-5) got a 25-point performance from Brady Santiago that included a 7-for-9 effort from behind the 3-point arc. She was joined in double-digits by Nina Fedullo who finished with 23 points.

Glens Falls, the Foothills North champion, got a 23 point, five rebound, five assist effort from Lucy Tougas, while Sophie Tougas finished with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds.

South Glens Falls 54, Gloversville 47

SOUTH GLENS FALLS -Harmony Philo hit three 3-pointers to raise her season total to 62 as she led the Lady Dragons’ scoring with 18 points. However, it was not enough as South Glens Falls got scoring from nine different players to claim victory in the Foothills Council crossover game.

Rylee Coon finished with a 19-point effort for South High that included four 3-pointers, while Alexa Brown had eight points and Claire Carpenter and Megan DeRidder finished with six points apiece.

SCHUYLERVILLE – Johnstown battled back from a 10-5 first-quarter deficit to tie the game at the end of three-quarters of play.

However, the Black Horses outscored Johnstown 16-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out the Foothills Council crossover win.

Claire Guzielek led the Lady Bills with 19 points, while Alex VanAernam and Jess VanNostrand finished with six points apiece.

Kaitlyn Congdon paced Schuylerville with her 16-point performance.

QUEENSBURY -The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and cruised to the Foothills crossover victory.

Emma Hayes led Queensbury with her 14 point, seven rebound, four assists performance. Katlyn Tavarres chipped on with 13 points and Caitlin Bolen added 12. Hailey Ballard pulled down 11 rebounds for Queensbury.

Broadalbin-Perth was paced by Tatiana Ivery’s 11-point effort, while Erica Kordjyak chipped in with eight.
