ALBANY – The Amsterdam wrestling team placed seventh at the Big 10 Tournament at Albany High School on Saturday.
Deposit-Hancock won the team title with 208 points, while Averill Park was second with 132.5 points. Amsterdam was seventh with 92.5 points.
Marcus Torres won the title at 195 pounds for the Rams with an 8-3 win over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s James Martin in the finals.
Amsterdam’s Daniel Montalvo lost 7-2 in the 106-pound finals to Deposit Hancock’s Owen Wormuth, while Amsterdam’s Chris Garrison lost by pinfall to Deposit-Hancock’s Zach Gifford in 3:00 in the 285-pound final.
Francisco Alejandro finished third for the Rams at 220 pounds.
Holland Patent Duals
HOLLAND PATENT – Fonda-Fultonville and Canajoharie-Fort Plain competed in the Holland Patent Duals on Saturday.
Host Holland Patent won the team title with a perfect 5-0 record, while Canajoharie-Fort Plain was fourth with a 2-3 record. Fonda-Fultonville was eighth with a 1-4 record.
Canajoharie-Fort Plain posted a 39-36 win over Fonda-Fultonville and a 42-37 win over Mount Markham. C-FP (9-14 overall) lost to Holland Patent (66-24), Fayetteville-Manlius (55-25) and the Adirondack B team (52-15).
Fonda-Fultonville (5-15 overall) posted its lone win over the Oneida B team, 36-33. In addition to their loss to C-FP, the Braves also lost to Holland Patent (72-12), Mount Markham (28-27) and Chittenango (34-30).
