Herrlett, Roten post strong showings

ROCHESTER – After three days of competition at Monroe Community College last week, the Herkimer Generals men’s swimming and diving program captured second and set six new school records.

Helping the Herkimer men to the “George Steitz Most Improved Men’s Team Award” was Nicholas Herrlett, a Gloversville graduate. The freshman placed first in 1-meter and 3-meter diving to capture individual Region III/District Northeast championships. Herrlett totaled 384.15 points in three meter and 479.50 points in the 1-meter, setting not only a school record in both events, but a meet record in the 1-meter. It was Herrlett’s sixth and seventh first-place finish in diving this season.

Johnstown graduate Cameron Roten was part of the second-place 800-yard freestyle relay team, the third-place 400-yard freestyle relay team and the fifth-place 400-yard medley relay team. Roten also was second in the 50-yard freestyle, fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.

Herrlett and Roten also were part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team, which placed fourth.

The Herkimer women’s team placed third in the team standings.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville graduate Tamara Romeyn was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team, which finished sixth.
