Wolfpack rallies past Northville

STILLWATER – Danny Reidell connected for a game-high 18 points for the Northville Falcons, but it was not enough as the second-seeded Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville Wolves connected for 21 fourth-quarter points to break a tie score and win Saturday’s Section II Class D quarterfinal game at Stillwater High School.

The tenth-seeded, upset-minded Falcons jumped out to an 18-12 first-quarter lead and clung to a 28-25 halftime advantage.

OESJ rallied to outscore Northville 13-10 in the third quarter to send the game into the final stanza deadlocked at 38 apiece.

The Wolfpack was paced by 14-point performances from David Anselmo and Devan Battisti, while Matt Cook chipped in with 12 points.

Dan Ryan chipped in with 10 points for Northville, while Lucas Jetty finished with eight.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville advances to the Class D semifinals to play No. 3 Germantown at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The winner will play the winner between Fort Ann and Argyle for the Section II Class D title Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center.

STILLWATER – Top-seeded Fort Ann got 27 points from Tyler Mattison and 22 from Garrett Bailey to turn back No. 8 Fort Plain Saturday at Stillwater High School.

The Hilltoppers got an 18-point performance from Jon Calbet to with with 14 points from Ryan DeLaurie and 12 points apiece from McKay Nare and Zach Reese.

Nick Leholsky joined Mattison and Bailey in double digits with his 14-point effort while Seth Godfrey chipped in with 11 points.

Fort Ann advances to face No. 4 Argyle in a semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The winner will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville and Germantown for the Class D title at 11 a.m. Saturday.
