Dolgeville baseball loses to Remsen

REMSEN – Will Rowlands had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Remsen to a 14-0 win over Dolgeville in a Center State Conference baseball game Tuesday.

Charlie Appleton had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI for the Rams, while Jacob Rowlands earned the win on the mound, allowing two hits and striking out 10 in five innings.

Jacob Farquhar and Dylan Walrath had the only hits for Dolgeville (1-7 overall).

On Sunday, Dolgeville took part in the Ben Conte Tournament at Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

In the first round, the Blue Devils dropped a 21-2 decision to West Canada Valley.

Connor Maxwell pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking two in five innings of work. Maxwell also went 3-for-5 at the plate for the Indians.

Michael Zaino was 3-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBIs for West Canada Valley, while Jake Gorinshek was 3-for-3.

Riley Nagle had a double and a single for Dolgeville, while Walrath had a single and an RBI.

In the consolation game, Dolgeville earned its first win of the season with a 15-5 victory over Cherry Valley-Springfield.

Nagle earned the complete-game win on the mound for the Blue Devils. He struck out seven, walked one and allowed seven hits in seven innings of work. Nagle also went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs at the plate. Farquhar and Hunter Barnes each went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Dolgeville, while Walrath had a double and two RBIs.

Ben Augur and Justin Riavez each had two hits for Cherry Valley-Springfield.
