Hudson Falls slips past Johnstown

HUDSON FALLS – Hunter Tyminski and Jake Potter each had RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth inning to help Hudson Falls rally for a 2-1 win over Johnstown in a Foothills Council baseball game Tuesday.

Tyminski’s single scored Joe Marine to tie the game before Potter plated Tyminski with the game-winning run. Marine had the only other hit for the Tigers.

Zach Swartz earned the win on the mound for Hudson Falls, allowing just one hit, striking out six and walking one.

Mike Brown took the loss for Johnstown, allowing three hits, striking out nine and walking none in six innings of work.

Ryan Nellis had the lone hit for Johnstown (0-1 overall, 0-1 Foothills), while Jack Fitzgerald added an RBI. Jake Petrie scored the lone run for the Sir Bills.

Johnstown is scheduled to travel to South Glens Falls today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Queensbury 17, Broadalbin-Perth 1

QUEENSBURY – Erik Wettersten finished with a single, double and six RBIs to power Queensbury to a Foothills Council win over Broadalbin-Perth.

Aaron Cook and Pat Conway combined to pitch a no-hitter for the Spartans. Cook had eight strikeouts and three walks in four innings of work to earn the win on the mound.

Justin Troelstra had a single, double and two RBIs for the Spartans, while Ryan Flansburg had a triple and two RBIs. Brett Rodriguez and Cook each had doubles for Queensbury (1-0 overall, 1-0 Foothills), while Connor Chambers added a single and two RBIs.

Mike Dygon took the loss for B-P (0-2 overall, 0-1 Foothills), while Tyler Graham scored the lone run.

The Patriots are slated to travel to Glens Falls today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Joe Schmidt earned the win on the mound to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a Western Athletic Conference North Division win over Galway.

Schmidt struck out 10 and allowed two hits in five innings of work for the Saints.

Sam Uline head two singles for Galway.
