Gloversville edges South Glens Falls

GLOVERSVILLE – Gloversville won four of five singles matches to avenge its lone loss of the season with a 4-3 win over previously unbeaten South Glens Falls in a Foothills Council tennis match at Boulevard Elementary School.

Scotty Bruce, Damian Bruce, Kyle Fonda and Brian Hugo won singles matches for the Huskies (10-1 overall, 10-1 Foothills), who lost at South Glens Falls by a 4-3 margin on April 20.

Scotty Bruce posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Richard Arnold at first singles, while Damian Bruce notched a 6-0, 6-2 win over Andrew Nygard at second singles. Fonda recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win over Nathan Roche at third singles and Hugo posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Mike Boyce at fourth singles.

Alex Spada won at fifth singles for South Glens Falls (12-1 overall, 12-1 Foothills).

Brandon Bruttomesso and Alex Prock won at first doubles for the Bulldogs, while Adam Whitaker and Ted Bruschini won at second doubles.

Gloversville is scheduled to host Queensbury today at 4:30 p.m. in a Foothills Council match.

Wyatt Borwick and Brendon McCarthy won at first doubles for Scotia-Glenville (7-8 overall, 7-8 Foothills), while Keith Ogden and Jacob Hardy won at second doubles.

Trevor Sweet and Logan Brandt won singles matches for Johnstown (3-8 overall, 3-8 Foothills).
