Boys Soccer Roundup: Mayfield gets past Schoharie

SCHOHARIE – Brendan Gifford scored a pair of first-half goals to help Mayfield to a 4-0 win over Schoharie in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Wednesday.

Drew Snyder and Jared Albertin also scored for the Panthers, while Harrison Harper, Alex Ringer, Daniel Leach and Carter Ivancic each had an assist.

Anthony Brandow made four saves to post the shutout win in goal for Mayfield (11-1 overall, 10-0 WAC), which outshot Schoharie by a 16-4 margin.

Jacob Fagnani made 11 saves for Schoharie (3-6 WAC).

Mekeel Christian 4, Northville 3

NORTHVILLE – Oscar Iteji had a goal and an assist to help Mekeel Christian Academy to a WAC victory over Northville.

Daniel Labrie, Marcos Garcia and Daniel McCarty also scored for the Lions.

Danny Reidell scored twice for the Falcons, while Curtis Arnold also scored.

Thomas Connolly made four saves for Mekeel Christian, while Andy Klingbeil made six stops for Northville (5-8 overall, 4-6 WAC).

Galway 2, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 1

GALWAY – Quinn Smith had a goal and an assist to lead Galway to a double-overtime win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Josh Scheeren also scored for Galway (8-1 WAC).

Kiernan Hanley scored the lone goal for BKW (5-3-1 WAC).

Middleburgh 2, Duanesburg 0

MIDDLEBURGH – Peyton Olsen scored both goals to lead Middleburgh to a WAC victory over Duanesburg.

Ben Healy and Antonio Marin each had an assist for the Knights.

Will Bankston made five saves to post the shutout win in goal for Middleburgh.

Alex Lawrence made six stops for Duanesburg.

Northern Soccer League

Johnsburg 2, Wells 1

WELLS – Bill Cameron and Ken Mulvey scored second-half goals to lead Johnsburg to a win over Wells.

Casey Tomb had an assist for the Jaguars.

Ty Earley scored the lone goal for Wells (1-6-1 overall, 1-6-1 NSL).

Patrick Reidinger made five saves for Johnsburg (5-5 overall, 5-2 NSL), while Shane Kennedy made 13 stops for Wells.

On Monday, Wells lost 2-1 at Crown Point.

Chad Stephens and Hunter Pertak scored for Crown Point.

Daniel O’Connor scored the lone goal for Wells on an assist from Caleb Trezise.

Non-league

Canajoharie 6, Dolgeville 0

DOLGEVILLE – Andrew Towse, Kevin Mazzarella and Walfre Vasquez each had a goal and an assist to lead Canajoharie to a win over Dolgeville.

Nick Shariff, Elijah Bowley and Jared Bentz also scored for the Cougars, while Lucas Sunderland added an assist.

Mack Frank posted the shutout win in goal for Canajoharie (4-7 overall), while Nick Coffin finished with six saves for Dolgeville (1-8 overall).
