Gloversville drops league match to Hudson Falls, 2-0

GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Huskies and Hudson Falls Tigers battled through a scoreless opening half before the Tigers found the back of the cage twice in the second half to record their first league win of the season 2-0 Thursday at Gloversville High School.

Sena McLaughlin and Morgan Harrison delivered the goals for Hudson Falls.

Hudson Falls (1-4 Foothills) held a 10-6 edge in shots on goal and 11-3 in penalty corners.

Mackenzie Paul recorded nine saves in goal for Gloversville (0-5 Foothills).

Schuylerville 1, Johnstown 0 (shoot out)

SCHUYLERVILLE – The Johnstown Lady Bills and Schuylerville Black Horses battled through regulation, two round of 7 versus 7 10 minute overtimes before advancing to a shoot out to decide a winner in Foothills Council field hockey action Thursday at Schuylerville High School.

In the shoot out, Schuylerville got goals from Morgan Gunter and Grace Hanehan, while Chelsea Rodecker connected for Johnstown as the Black Horses won the shoot out 2-1 to pick up the 1-0 win.

Schuylerville held an 18-10 edge in shots on goal and a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.

Johnstown’s Emma Gottung collected 13 saves in goal and coach Christine Krempa credited Kaitlyn Serpa with making a key defensive save in the first sudden death overtime.

Hunter VanArnam had 10 saves in goal for Schuylerville.

Johnstown (3-2 overall, 3-2 Foothills) will host Scotia-Glenville at noon Saturday at Knox Field.
