Heroth leads Lady Bills past South Glens Falls

JOHNSTOWN – Anna Heroth picked up a goal and two assists as the Johnstown field hockey team posted a 3-0 Foothills Council victory over South Glens Falls Thursday at Knox Field.

Heroth made a pass from the top of the circle to Paige Stewart who finished the play with 3:21 left in the opening half for a 1-0 advantage.

Heroth was involved in the Lady Bills’ second goal of the half when she received a pass from Stewart on a penalty corner restart and pushed it to Chelsea Rodecker at the top of the circle. Rodecker connected on a hard shot that hit the back of the cage for a 2-0 advantage with 1:40 left in the half.

Heroth collected an unassisted goal with 28:29 left in the match when she took a free hit just outside the circle, dribbled in and fired a hard shot between the pipes for the 3-0 final.

For the match Johnstown out shot South Glens Falls 19-3, while both squads finished with five penalty corners.

Emily Baker collected 10 saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while Emma Gottung made two stops for Johnstown.

Johnstown (5-4 overall, 5-3 Foothills) will host Hudson Falls in a league match at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Knox Field.

Glens Falls 6, Gloversville 0

GLENS FALLS – The Lady Indians got a three-goal performance from Katelynn Mello in Thursday’s Foothills Council victory over Gloversville.

Felicity Williams added two goals and an assist to the Glens Falls attack, while Mattie Benway added a goal and Jazmyn Blair collected three assists.

Gloversville goalkeeper McKenzie Paul collected 25 saves, while Callie Woodell and Alix Johnson combined to get the shut out with one save.

Glens Falls ended with a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.
