Phelps picks up modified win at Fonda

FONDA – Jimmy Phelps made the most of his front row starting spot Saturday night as he won out in a race-long battle with Mike Mahaney to pick up his first career victory at Fonda Speedway in the Mohawk Valley 100.

Joining Phelps with victories on the night were Mark Mortensen in the 602 sportsman main event, Josh Coonradt in the street stock division, while Dan Haslun and Ken Hallenbeck won the dual and single cam 4-cylinder feature.

In 25-lap the Kramer Williamson Memorial for 360 sprint cars, Drew Franek made a late-race pass of Cory Sparks to get the win.

Mark Smith was third with Jared Zimbardi fourth and Danny Varin fifth.

Tim Fuller made a late-race run to get up to second at the finish of the 100-lap event, followed by Brett Hearn, Mahaney and Stewart Friesen to complete the top five.

Pat Ward, Billy Decker, Jeremy Wilder, Danny Johnson and Ronnie Johnson rounded out the top 10.
