Boys Soccer Roundup: South Glens Falls blanks Gloversville

GLOVERSVILLE – Levi Ahl finished with two goals and an assist to lead South Glens Falls to a 3-0 victory over Gloversville in a Foothills Council boys soccer crossover contest Friday at Gloversville High School.

Thomas Linehan also scored for the Bulldogs, while Eben Farry added an assist.

Ben Willson made just one save to post the shutout in goal for South Glens Falls (7-8-1 overall).

Robert Ward made seven saves for Gloversville (5-10-1 overall).

Schuylerville 4, Johnstown 1

JOHNSTOWN – Mike Lanfear finished with a goal and an assist to power Schuylerville to a Foothills Council crossover victory over Johnstown.

Luke Saddlemire, Kyle McMahon and Ricardo Mundoza-Gomez also scored for the Black Horses, while Owen Carlstrom had two assists.

Johnstown slipped to 5-10-1 overall with the loss.

Amsterdam 0, Hudson Falls 0

AMSTERDAM – Elias Sanchez finished with seven saves to help Amsterdam earn a tie with Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council crossover contest.

Amsterdam (1-13-2 overall) outshot the Tigers, 9-7.

Joey Potvin made two saves for Hudson Falls (1-12-3) overall).

Glens Falls 2, Scotia-Glenville 0

SCOTIA – Andy Culliton and Seth Davis scored to lead Glens Falls to a Foothills Council crossover victory over Scotia-Glenville.

It was the first win for the Indians over the Tartans since 2006.

Liam Casey and Willy Herrmann each had an assist for Glens Falls (8-7-1 overall).

Will Allen made five saves to post the shutout in goal for the Indians. Kyle Steele made just one save for Scotia-Glenville (9-7 overall).


Mayfield 0, Northville 0

NORTHVILLE – Andy Klingbeil finished with seven saves to help Northville earn a scoreless draw with Mayfield.

Anthony Brandow made three saves for Mayfield (14-1-1 overall). Northville (5-9-2 overall) also was outshot 14-3 and the Panthers held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Mekeel Christian 3

FONDA – Stiven Florez finished with two goals to help Fonda-Fultonville earn a draw with Mekeel Christian Academy.

Evan Wieczenski also scored for the Braves (5-9-2 overall)

Oscar Iteji scored twice for Mekeel Christian, while Marcos Garcia had a goal and an assist.

Schoharie 4, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 3

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Skyler Jankowski and Matt Loubier each scored twice to lead Schoharie to a victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Zack Mosher had a goal and an assist for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (6-8-2 overall), while Braden Fredericks and Jack Brundage also scored.

Northern Soccer League

Wells 5, Schroon Lake 1

WELLS – Tre Zimmerman finished with two goals and two assists to lead Wells to a victory over Schroon Lake on Thursday.

Ty Earley scored twice for the Indians, while Tayler Chicoski also scored.

Nicky Dopp added two assists for Wells (3-8-1 overall).

Brandon Hall scored the lone goal for Schroon Lake.
