Girls Soccer Roundup: Groff, Foster lift Northville past Mayfield

MAYFIELD – Kerrigan Groff and Karlie Foster scored to lift Northville to a 2-1 victory over Mayfield in a non-league girls soccer contest Friday at Mayfield High School.

Brytney Moore added an assist for the Lady Falcons.

Camryn Meca scored the lone goal for Mayfield (2-12-2 overall)

Taylor Johnson made four saves to earn the victory in goal for Northville (10-5-1 overall).

Sydney Benton made six saves for the Lady Panthers.

Canajoharie 2, Fort Plain 1

CANAJOHARIE – Meghan Dingman scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime to lift Canajoharie to a non-league victory over Fort Plain.

“What a great, exciting game between two long-time rival schools,” Canajoharie coach Elle Fichthorn said.

Taya Yacobucci assisted on the goal for the Cougars, who improved to 6-8-2 overall.

Madison Crouse also scored for Canajoharie.

Meagan Behan scored the lone goal for Fort Plain (6-9-1 overall).

Bethany Mead and Jocelyn Hammons combined to make 17 saves for Canajoharie, while Zoey Horning made nine stops for the Lady Hilltoppers.

Fonda-Fultonville 4, Mekeel Christian 1

SCOTIA – Alyssa Duval and Julianna Taylor each scored two goals and had an assist to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a non-league victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Michaela VanSlyke scored the lone goal for Mekeel Christian on an assist from Grace Pigliavento.

Ryleigh Hesch made seven saves for the Lady Braves, while Rebekkah Dean finished with 22 saves for Mekeel Christian.

FFCS improved to 7-6-1 overall with the victory.

Northern Soccer League

Schroon Lake 3, Wells 0

SCHROON LAKE – Amanda Grey scored twice to lift Schroon Lake to a victory over Wells.

Alysen Bruce also scored for the Wildcats, while Emily Maisonville had two assists.

Alora Bearor and McKayla Vanderwalker combined to make six saves to share the shutout in goal for Schroon Lake (10-4-1 overall, 10-3-1 NSL)

Sarah Darling made 13 saves for Wells (0-12-2 overall, 0-12-2 NSL).

Center State Conference

Frankfort-Schuyler 3, Dolgeville 2

DOLGEVILLE – Sophia Simmons, Rose Simmons and Hannah Linscott scored to lead Frankfort-Schuyler to a victory over Dolgeville.

Hailey Traut and Courtney Madia each had an assist for the Maroon Knights.

Sarah George scored both goals for Dolgeville (8-6-2 overall, 3-4-1 CSC).

Charlotte Rodio posted 10 saves to earn the victory in goal for Frankfort-Schuyler (11-4-1 overall, 4-3-1 CSC).

Bobbie Lee Hall made 10 saves for Dolgeville.

Foothills Council

Queensbury 8, Johnstown 0

QUEENSBURY – Emily Vetter netted three goals and had an assist to lead Queensbury to a victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council crossover contest Thursday.

Emma Nelson finished with two goals and an assist for the Spartans, while Katie Birkholz had a goal and two assists. Ashley Rosario had a goal and an assist for Queensbury, while Maddie Montgomery also scored.

Allison Morey made nine saves for Johnstown (5-9-2 overall).

Broadalbin-Perth 3, Hudson Falls 2

HUDSON FALLS – Naomi Fraser scored all three goals to power Broadalbin-Perth to a victory over Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council crossover contest Thursday. Bella Magliocca, Rose Barnhart and Casey Friedlander each had an assist for B-P (5-10 overall).

Abby Swartz and Madison Akins scored for Hudson Falls.

Emily Denman and Ali Visco combined to make 18 saves for the Lady Patriots. Abbey LaFontaine made 20 stops for the Tigers.
