Girls Soccer Roundup: Northville, Galway battle to scoreless draw

NORTHVILLE – Northville and Galway played to a scoreless draw in a Western Athletic Conference girls soccer contest Wednesday.

Taylor Johnson finished with 16 saves for Northville (9-5-1 overall, 8-3-1 WAC), while defenders Bri Bace, Carina Oare and Bre Strouse also played well.

Grace Montague made 10 saves for the Golden Eagles.

Galway outshot Northville 21-13 and finished with a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

The game was Northville’s pink out game and the Falcons also honored seniors Johnson and Marleigh Frasier at halftime.

Northville is scheduled to travel to Mayfield on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Mayfield 2, Mekeel Christian 2

SCOTIA – Kaylee Hampton and Camryn Meca scored for Mayfield in a tie with Mekeel Christian Academy.

Shelby Dopp had an assist for the Lady Panthers.

Grace Pigliavento finished with a goal and an assist for Mekeel Christian, while Jessica Show also scored.

Rebekkah Dean made 11 saves for Mekeel Christian, while Sydney Benton made eight saves for Mayfield (2-11-2 overall).

Schoharie 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 1

SCHOHARIE – Adrianna Cornell, Katie Krohn and Maddie Phelan all scored to lead Schoharie to a victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Stephanie Mason scored the lone goal for Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Abby Wetsel made seven saves for Schoharie, while Monique Britton and Nicole Filkins combined to make eight saves for BKW.

Middleburgh 3, Duanesburg 0

MIDDLEBURGH – Julia Newsome scored twice to lead Middleburgh to a WAC victory over Duanesburg.

Vivian Hanley also scored for the Knights, while Rylie Smith added an assist.

Sam Petrosino finished with five saves to post the shutout in goal for Middleburgh.

Madison Stealy made 18 saves for Duanesburg.

Northern Soccer League

Wells 1, Willsboro 1

WELLS – After losing its first 11 games, Wells earned its second straight tie, playing Willsboro to a draw at home.

Joy Trezise scored the lone goal for Wells on an assist from Dallas Erb.

Trina Bigelow scored for Willsboro on an assist from Savannah Bronson.

Sarah Darling made eight saves for Wells (0-11-2 overall, 0-11-2 NSL), while Katelynn Doyle made seven stops for Willsboro.

Center State Conference

Dolgeville 2, Cooperstown 2

COOPERSTOWN – Sarah George and Patricia Cool scored to help Dolgeville earn a tie with Cooperstown.

Danielle Perrino scored both goals for Cooperstown, while Taylor Keane and Maggie Schuermann each had an assist.

Bobbie Lee Hall made 16 saves for Dolgeville (8-5-2 overall, 3-3-1 CSC).

Sam Wehner made seven saves for Cooperstown (10-4-1 overall, 4-3-1 CSC).

The Blue Devils are scheduled to host Frankfort-Schuyler on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Non-league

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 3, Fort Plain 0

FORT PLAIN – Madison Richardson had a goal and an assist to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a victory over Fort Plain.

Abby Mosher and Alexis Romeyn also scored for the Lady Wolves, while Ashley Engle added an assist.

Caitlin Handy made two saves to earn the shutout in goal for OESJ (12-2 overall).

Zoey Horning made six stops for Fort Plain (6-8-1 overall).
