Dolgeville cruises past Fonda-Fultonville, 63-12

FONDA — In its first dual meet of the season, Dolgeville won 11 of 13 weight classes on its way to a 63-12 victory over Fonda-Fultonville on Tuesday.

“We wrestled well,” Dolgeville coach Jeremy Calkins said.

The Blue Devils’ Anthony Chromczak opened the match by collecting a forfeit win at 170 pounds.

It was the first of five forfeit victories for Dolgeville.

Riley Beaulieu (182 pounds) pushed the lead to 12-0, pinning Fonda-Fultonville Zach Port in 1:25.

After a double forfeit at 195 pounds, the Blue Devils’ Justin Kopet pinned Chris Hernigle to make it 18-0.

The Braves claimed their first win of the night when Nate Rose pinned Dolgeville’s Mike Krasko in 20 seconds at 285 pounds.

FFCS closed to within 18-12 after Justin Kearns collected a forfeit win at 99 pounds.

The Braves got no closer as Dolgeville won eight straight weight classes after a double forfeit at 106 pounds.

“We have a lot of young guys in our lineup, so you never know what you’re going to get,” Calkins said. “We performed very well tonight.”

Tre Jaquay started the streak at 113 pounds by pinning the Braves’ Josh Hemdinger in 1:21.

Toby Weber (120) and Oscar Lozada (126) followed with forfeit wins for the Blue Devils to make the score 36-12.

In the only match of the night to go the full six-minute distance, Dolgeville’s Cameron Manchester outlasted Clane Newcomer 11-5 at 132 pounds.

David Pierce won by forfeit at 138 pounds for the Blue Devils to make it 45-12.

Jacob Null pinned the Braves’ Justin Newcomer in 3:30 at 145 pounds, while Dolgeville’s Justus Richardson pinned Kyle Gray at 152 pounds.

Richardson trailed 7-2 heading into the third period before pinning Gray with 1:02 remaining in the match.

Kyle Getman claimed a forfeit victory at 160 pounds for the Blue Devils, making the final score 63-12.

“It’s tough going into a match with just eight guys,” Fonda-Fultonville coach Rick Dufresne said. “Everybody wrestled hard. We were just outnumbered.”

Fonda-Fultonville (0-1 overall) is slated to host Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Dolgeville (1-0 overall) is set to host Cooperstown on Thursday at 6 p.m.
