H.S. Softball Roundup: Johnstown falls short at Queensbury

QUEENSBURY — Ashley Rosario and Justice Colvin connected for home runs to lead Queensbury to a 10-2 victory over Johnstown in Foothills Council softball action Friday at Queensbury High School.

Colvin added a double and a single to go with four RBIs and three runs scored for Queensbury (5-6 overall, 4-4 Foothills), while Rosario added a single to go with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Janay Douglas led Johnstown with a single and two RBIs, while Sydney Darling connected for a triple.

Schuylerville 17, Gloversville 6

GLOVERSVILLE — Jen Vickery went 3-for-3 with a home run for Gloversville but it was not enough as the Huskies fell to Schuylerville in Foothills Council action Friday at Parkhurst Field.

Lauren Kelleher picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Black Horses (7-3 overall, 7-1 Foothills) allowing five hits and striking out eight.

Caitlin Kelleher added a double and two singles for Schuylerville, while Teagan Andrews had a double and a single.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Alexis Hagadorn finished 3-for-4 to lead Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Kendall Kennedy pitched a two-hitter to earn the win for Fort Plain (6-1 overall, 5-1 WAC), while Maecee Lathers had two singles. Michaela Stockwell added a single and an RBI for the Lady Hilltoppers.

Fontana LaCoppola and Caitlin Handy each had a single and an RBI for OESJ (1-8 coverall, 1-5 WAC).

SCHENECTADY — Mollie Krug was 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs to power Canajoharie to a WAC victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

Mackenzie Bowerman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and and RBI for Canajoharie (6-1 overall, 5-1 WAC). Bowerman also earned the win, allowing six hits, striking out 11 and walking just one in seven innings of work.

Marissa Corerra and Hope Hiscock each had a single and a double for Bishop Gibbons, while Taylor VanAuken added a double.
