H.S. Softball Roundup: Lady Bills blanked by South Glens Falls, 22-0

JOHNSTOWN — Leah Vanderwarker was 5-for-5 with a double, two triples and a home run to power South Glens Falls to a 22-0 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council softball game Monday at Johnstown High School.

The Bulldogs pounded out 19 hits, including nine for extra bases.

Maddy Capozucca pitched a no-hitter for South Glens Falls (8-1 overall, 7-0 Foothills). At the plate, she was 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Emily Joss had a double and a triple for the Bulldogs, while Hannah Mosher added a triple.

Johnstown (3-4 overall, 3-3 Foothills) is scheduled to travel to Hudson Falls on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Amsterdam 10, Gloversville 4

GLOVERSVILLE — Karly Power finished 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored to help Amsterdam post a Foothills Council South Division victory over Gloversville.

Nicole DeRose was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for Amsterdam (4-6 overall, 3-4 Foothills), while Morgan Durinick was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.

Emma Patrei earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out seven in five innings of work.

Jennifer Vickery had a single, double and 2 RBIs for Gloversville (1-4 overall, 1-4 Foothills), while Katlyn Cwiakala had two singles and an RBI.

Gabby Langley, Michaela Ponticello and Caitlyn Catucci each had a single for the Huskies.

BROADALBIN — Emilie Rosenberg had four singles and five RBIs to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council South Division victory over Broadalbin-Perth.

Purvis pitched a one-hitter and fanned 12 for the Tartans (7-1 overall, 5-1 Foothills), while Mia Traficante had a triple, double, two singles and two RBIs.

Broadalbin-Perth (0-7 overall, 0-7 Foothills) is scheduled to host South Glens Falls on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

FORT PLAIN — Sierra Logan went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a triple and five RBIs to power Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Amber Douglas and Maecee Lathers each went 3-for-4 for Fort Plain (5-0 overall, 4-0 WAC).

Micheala Stockwell earned the win, striking out 10, walking four, and allowing six hits and one run.

Taya Carpenter and Caitlyn Bianchi each went 2-for-4 for Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Emma Smith had two doubles for Galway (2-4 overall, 2-4 WAC).

Caitlin Handy had a double and single for OESJ (1-6 overall, 1-3 WAC), and Fontana LaCoppola and Jazmin Munford each had two hits.

WILLSBORO — Rylee Pierson tossed a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead Willsboro to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference win over Wells.

Pierson also helped her cause at the plate with three hits.

Kaitlin Shaw also had three hits for Willsboro, while Darrian Sweat, Bailee Pulsifer. Savannah Bronson, Payton Gough and Devi Lee all had two.

Marrissa Mattice and Erika Foster each had one hit for Wells (0-1 overall, 0-1 MVAC).
