Softball Roundup: Mayfield outlasts Galway

MAYFIELD — Angelina Mannino finished with a double, two singles and an RBI to help Mayfield earn a 9-8 victory over Galway in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Tuesday.

Galway scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead before Mayfield scored six times in its half of the sixth to rally for the win.

Lindsey Hampton had two singles, two runs scored and an RBI for the Panthers, while Sydney Benton had a double and an RBI. Kaylee Hampton, Sydney Benton and Taryn LaFontaine all had a single and an RBI for Mayfield (3-3 overall, 3-1 WAC).

Karleigh VanNostrand earned the win for Mayfield, striking out 10 and allowing seven hits in seven innings of work.

Emma Smith had two singles and an RBI for Galway (2-5 overall, 2-5 WAC), while Justine Quay had two single. Rachel Reichard had a single and two RBIs for the Golden Eagles.

Canajoharie 8, Fort Plain 3

CANAJOHARIE — Molly Krug had two singles and two RBIs to help Canajoharie to a WAC victory over Fort Plain.

It was the fifth straight win for the Lady Cougars, who dealt the Lady Hilltoppers their first loss of the season.

Brianna DiMascio had two singles for Canajoharie (5-1 overall, 5-1 WAC), while Mackenzie Bowerman had a double and three RBIs. Madison Koelbl finished with a double and two RBIs for the Lady Cougars, while Kylee Rickard added a single.

Sierra Logan had a double and a single for Fort Plain (5-1 overall, 5-1 WAC), while Amber Douglas and Maecee Lathers each had singles.

Mohonasen 2, Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM — Natalie Blackstone had two singles to lift Mohonasen to a non-league win over Amsterdam at Shuttleworth Park.

Maddy DeMarco had a double for the Warriors, while Michaela Arcate pitched a one-hit shutout to earn the win.

Emma Patrei had a double for Amsterdam (4-7 overall). Michaela Rust took the loss for the Lady Rams, striking out five, allowing seven hits and no earned runs.
