H.S. Softball Roundup: Fort Plain tops Bishop Gibbons

SCHENECTADY — Amber Douglas was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead Fort Plain to a 9-3 victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Thursday.

Sierra Logan was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for Fort Plain (9-2 overall, 7-0 WAC), while Kendall Kennedy earned the win, allowing four hits, striking out five and walking three.

Abby Hamilton was 1-for-3 with a run scored for Bishop Gibbons.

Foothills Council

Queensbury 10, Broadalbin-Perth 1

QUEENSBURY — Justice Colvin finished 3-for-4 with a double to lead Queensbury to a Foothills Council softball victory over Broadalbin-Perth on Thursday.

Cora Streets was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Spartans, while Jasmine Pepe had a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Karley Hertzner added two RBIs for Queensbury (6-8 overall, 5-6 overall).

Danielle Winney, Kara Terwilliger and Hannah Magliocca all had a single and run scored for Broadalbin-Perth (0-11 overall, 0-11 Foothills).

Wells 9, Minerva-Newcomb 8

WELLS — Marissa Mattice finished with three hits to lead Wells to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball victory over Minerva-Newcomb on Thursday.

Madeline Pierce had a single and a double for the Lady Indians, while Rebekah Weaver had two singles. Weaver also earned the win for Wells allowing six hits, striking out nine and walking seven.

Pierce’s double plated Sierra Mauro with the tying run and Ruth Johnson in the bottom of the seventh for the Lady Indians.

Joyellen Trezise had a home run for Wells (3-3 overall, 3-3 MVAC), while Dallas Erb added a triple.

Rebecca Draper and Casi Pratt each had two hits for Minerva-Newcomb.
