H.S. Softball Roundup: Mayfield gets past Fort Plain

FORT PLAIN — Taryn LaFontaine had a home run and scored two runs to lead Mayfield to a 7-2 victory over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Monday.

Morgan Lathrop was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Lady Panthers, who scored two runs in the first inning and three in the second on their way to the victory.

Karleigh VanNostrand earned the victory for Mayfield (7-6 overall, 6-2 WAC), allowing two runs, seven hits, striking out six and walking two.

Kendall Kennedy and Sierra Logan each had two hits for Fort Plain (9-3 overall, 7-1 WAC).

FONDA – Canajoharie scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for a WAC victory over Fonda-Fultonville.

Madison Koelbl had a double for Canajoharie (8-2 overall, 6-2 WAC), while Hannah Smith, Jenna Shepard and Monica Hartlieb each had singles.

Sierra Rose was 4-for-4 for FFCS (2-7 overall, 1-5 WAC), while Katarina Nordby had three singles. Brianne Egelston added a single for the Lady Braves.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Sophie Loukides finished with two doubles and four RBIs to power Duanesburg to a WAC victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Alexa Lombardoni had two singles, a double and three RBIs for the Eagles, while Erica Schettine added two doubles and two RBIs. Jenna Lees added a triple, single and two RBIs for Duanesburg (8-1 WAC).

Erielle Guilleguitan had a single, double and two RBIs for OESJ (2-9 overall, 2-6 WAC). while Meadow Arduini had a double. Caitlin Handy had a single and an RBI for the Lady Wolves and Madison Johnson added a single.

Foothills Council

Amsterdam 13, Johnstown 9

JOHNSTOWN — Amsterdam pounded out 15 hits on its way to a Foothills Council South Division victory over Johnstown.

Michaela Kelly finished with a home run, triple, single and two runs scored for Amsterdam (8-8 overall, 5-5 Foothills), which has won four of its last five games.

Megan LaMont had two singles, a triple and scored two runs for the Lady Rams, while Emma Patrei and Morgan Durnick each had a single, triple and scored two runs.

Nicole DeRose had two singles for Amsterdam and Gianna Quatrini added a double.

Grace Giarrizzo had a home run, single and scored two runs for Johnstown (4-10 overall, 3-8 Foothills), while Janay Douglas had a single, triple and scored two runs. Josie Mowrey added two singles for the Lady Bills.

Gloversville 11, Broadalbin-Perth 3

GLOVERSVILLE — Gloversville picked up its second straight victory, defeating Broadalbin-Perth in a Foothills Council South Division contest.

Gloversville (3-10 overall, 3-7 Foothills) is scheduled to travel to Amsterdam today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

B-P (0-12 overall, 0-12 Foothills) is slated to host Johnstown on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

WELLS — Taylor Dwyer was 4-for-6 with two home runs to power Johnsburg to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference victory over Wells.

Khaleah Cleveland was 3-for-4 with a triple for the Jaguars, while Savanna Berg and Jamie Bruce each had two hits.

Madeline Pierce was 2-for-4 for Wells (3-4 overall, 3-4 MVAC)
