Fonda-Fultonville honors spring sports athletes

FONDA — The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District hosted its annual spring sports awards night June 7 in the high school auditorium.

Dan Parslow was the Male Athlete of the Year, while Avery Cook was the Female Athlete of the Year.

Parslow also earned the Higgins Plaque as the baseball Most Valuable Player and won the batting title with a .510 average.

Massimo DiCaprio and Luke Neff earned Coach’s Awards for baseball, while Brady Myles and Myles Andersen shared the Best Newcomer Award. Cade Kearns and Christian Cary shared the baseball Best Defensive Player award.

Cook was named the girls outdoor track and field team’s best sprinter.

Brittany Castelluccio and Emma Rhodes shared the James C. Lippie Memorial MVP Award for girls track and field, while Katie Dunham was named the best distance runner. Alyson Shirley and Emilia Vardai-Davidson shared the best field events award, and Giuliana Capparello was named most improved.

From the boys outdoor track and field team, Chris Yarush was named the James F. Minicki Memorial MVP.

Travis Geniti and Clane Newcomer shared the best distance events award.

Aaron Rodrigues (best sprinter), Chris Yarush (best field events) and Nick Oertel (most improved) also earned boys track and field awards.

Brianne Egelston was named the Avis E. Lippie Memorial MVP for the softball team.

Sierra Rose was best newcomer and won the team’s batting title.

Jenna Santabarbara (coach’s award) and Kelsey Denton (best defensive player) also were honored from the softball team.
