SACRAMENTO — After being named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, Broadalbin-Perth High School graduate Matt Gage was promoted to Triple-A by the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.
Gage, a lefthanded pitcher, reported to the Giants’ Pacific Coast League affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats.
Gage was drafted by the Giants in the 10th round out of Siena College in 2014, is coming off a stretch of strong outgings for the Double-A Richmond Squirrels.
The 24-year-old lefty led the Squirrels in wins last season with nine. He made his Richmond debut on July 17, 2015 and has appeared in 44 career games with Richmond. Gage has won three of his last four starts and currently ranks fourth in the league in ERA (2.95).
