VOORHEESVILLE — The Canajoharie-Fort Plain boys and girls varsity cross-country teams turned in strong performances Saturday at the annual Blackbird Invitational run at Wallace Park.
C-FP placed fourth in the Division 2 varsity team standings with 175 points, while the Canajoharie-Fort Plain finished fourth in the Division 2 girls varsity team standings with 141 points.
Broadalbin-Perth placed fifth in the D-2 boys standings with 185 points, while the Lady Patriots placed sixth in the D-2 girls race with 153 points.
Johnstown was seventh in the D-2 boys competition with 208 points and the Lady Bills were fifth in the D-2 girls standings with 148 points.
Fonda-Fultonville finished ninth in the D-2 girls standings with 184 points, while the Braves placed 12th with 281 points.
Gloversville competed in the Division 1 portion of the meet but posted incomplete scores for both squads.
Queensbury won the D-1 boys meet, edging Ballston Spa 43-56, while Maple Hill won the D-2 boys team title 33-35 over Albany Academy.
On the girls side, Queensbury took home the D-1 girls title 33-44 over Ballston Spa and Maple Hill edged Voorheesville for the D-2 girls title 90-97.
Andrew Yacobucci led C-FP with his ninth-place finish with a time of 18:31 over the 3.1-mile course. Michael Hoffman was 17th in 19:08, followed by Jason Huang (40th/20:38), Michael D’Arcangelis (50th/21:05), Alvin Sullivan (64th/21:48), Sean Staples (66th/21:52) and Louis Calbet (75th/22:22).
Micah Smith was the top finisher for Broadalbin-Perth with his 21st place finish in 19:15, while Devin Becker was 30th in 19:49 followed by Wyatt Couperus (38th/20:33), Daniel Dylong (42nd/20:45), Evan Smith (59th/21:29), Patrick Nellis (60th/21:31) and Preston Hadley (74th/22:15).
Gabe Cole was first into the chute for the Sir Bills with his27th place finish with a time of 19:46, while Mark Cwiakala was 29th (19:48), Zachary Ropeter was 47th (20:54), Christian Germany placed 54th (21:20), Justin Ferrara placed 56th (21:22) and Nolan Hayes rounds out the Johnstown scorers with his 70th-place finish in 22:02.
The Fonda-Fultonville boys were led by Aidan Zenzen’s 36th place finish in 20:19 followed by Myles Anderson (46th/20:51), Trevor Cline (53rd/21:15), Anthony Gatto (67th/21:55) and Anthony Caraci (85th/24:39).
Marcus O’Leary of Albany Academy for Boys won the Division-2 portion of the meet with his time of 17:09, while Voorheesville’s Evan Ensslin was second with a time of 17:21 and Maple Hills’ Noah Albanese placed third with 17:23.
Gloversville’s Skyler Reed placed 17th in the D-1 portion of the meet with his time of 18:18. Riley Lake placed 48th for the Huskies with a time of 20:25, while Devon Pickney placed 64th in 23:34 and Zachary Rocas was 65th in 22:34.
Glens Falls’ Chris Hughes was the D-1 race with his time of 16:18, while Schalmont’s Francisco and Antonio Beltran were second and third respectively, both with time of 16:36.
Samantha Field paced the Canajoharie-Fort Plain girls, finishing fourth in the D-2 girls varsity race with a time of 22:06. Michaela Stockwell placed 13th for Fort Plain with a time of 22:50, followed by Eliza Cechnicki (16th/23:16), Emily Marsh (45th/25:20), Hannah Leonard (77th/30:24), Hannah Robinson (78th/30:28) and Kym Terwilliger (84th/33:50).
Johnstown was paced by Julia Sarullo’s fifth-place finish in 22:19 over the 3.1-mile course, while Katie Romano was 15th (23:13), Julia Preston was 30th (24:08), Brooke Grace was 53rd (26:13) and Alexis Houser placed 56th (26:25) to round out the scoring.
Broadalbin-Perth’s Grabielle Larsen and Samantha Murphy placed sixth and seventh respectively with a time of 22:20.. Sarah Larsen finished 47th for the Lady Patriots with a time of 25:26, while Jordyn DeNeuville was 50th in 26:02 followed by Aubrey Jennings (55th/26:21), Joshalyn Wagner (74th/29:35) and Brooke McClarren (85th/36:00).
Mariah VanAvery led the Fonda-Fultonville runners with her eighth-place finish in 22:26, while Katie Dunham placed 17th in 23:21 and Hannah Lewis placed 43rd in 25:02. Brittany Castelluccio finished 60th in 27:00, while Alyson Shirley placed 71st in 28:41 and Raelyn Hattat was 83rd in 32:08.
Daley Jo Christman led the Gloversville girls with her 14th place finish in the D-1 meet in 22:51, while Rhea Winter placed 21st in 23:44 and Brenna Wooster finished 31st in 26:09.
Ballston Spa’s Faith DeMars won the D-1 girls meet with her time of 19:18, while Emily Atamanchuk of Queensbury was second in 19:44 and Ballston Spa’s Olivia Skylstad was third in 20:37.
Voorheesville seventh-grader Mariem Sayahi won the girls D-2 race with her time of 20:57, while Hoosic Valley’s Carolyn Burnell was second in 21:20 and Maple Hill’s Anelina Pusateri was third in 21:23.
