Fonda-Johnstown tops Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM — The Fonda-Johnstown girls swim team capped a busy week with an 88-76 victory over Amsterdam in a Foothills Council meet at Lynch Literacy Academy on Thursday.

Competing for the third time in four days, Fonda-Johnstown improved to 3-2 overall after winning eight of 11 events against the Rams.

Emily Miles (100-yard freestyle, 200 freestyle), Emma Rizzo (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Sophia Frenyea (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) all posted two victories for Fonda-Johnstown.

Abigail Rizzo won the 500 freestyle for Fo-Jo, which also won the 200 medley relay.

Paige Bertuch (100 backstroke) was the lone individual event winner for Amsterdam.

The Rams also won the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

The 1-meter diving event was not contested.
