Girls Soccer Roundup: Gloversville tops Mayfield, 5-1

GLOVERSVILLE — Angel Anderson finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Gloversville girls soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Mayfield in the opening round of the Gloversville Tournament on Friday at Husky Field.

Taylor Mee and Sydney Loux each had a goal and an assist for Gloversville, while Michaela Ponticello also scored. Maddie Jones added an assist for the Lady Dragons.

Lindsey Hampton scored the lone goal for Mayfield.

Alex Benfatti made nine saves for Gloversville, while Sydney Benton made 15 stops for Mayfield.

Gloversville (1-1 overall) will face Ballston Spa today in the championship game at 7 p.m.

Mayfield (0-1-1 overall) will face Northville in today’s consolation game at 5 p.m.

Ballston Spa 7, Northville 2

GLOVERSVILLE — Sara Rule and Caitlin Wania each scored two goals to lift Ballston Spa to a victory over Northville in the first round of the Gloversville Tournament.

Maura Smith, Lilly Urban and Abby Yetru also scored for the Scotties.

Brytney Moore scored both goals for Northville (1-1 overall), while Hannah Coupas finished with two assists.

Foothills Council

Scotia-Glenville 4, Johnstown 0

JOHNSTOWN — Sydnee Smith scored twice to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council South Division victory over Johnstown.

Alexis Zatlokowicz and Lauren Zeglen each had a goal and an assist for the Lady Tartans.

Allison Morey made 15 saves for Johnstown (1-1 overall, 1-1 Foothills).

Amsterdam 5, Broadalbin-Perth 3, OT

BROADALBIN — Lucia Liverio scored twice in overtime to lift Amsterdam to a Foothills Council South Division victory over Broadalbin-Perth.

Haley Madej scored all three goals in regulation for the Lady Rams (2-1 overall, 1-1 Foothills), while Liverio and Emma Patrei each had an assist.

Meghan O’Connor, Hailey Parrotti and Coryne Leonard scored for Broadalbin-Perth (0-2 overall, 0-2 Foothills).

Non-league

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 2, Fort Plain 0

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Ashley Engle and Alexis Klock scored to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a victory over Fort Plain in a non-league matchup.

Madison Richardson added an assist for OESJ (1-1 overall)

Ashlee Shelmandine made four saves for the Lady Wolves.

Rhyonn Ford made six saves for Fort Plain (0-1-1 overall).
