H.S. Football Roundup: Johnstown, Broadalbin-Perth notch first wins

VALATIE — The Johnstown defense came through with five sacks and three red zone stops to help the Sir Bills post their first victory of the season 22-0 over Ichabod Crane Friday at Ichabod Crane High School.

Johnstown (1-1) put all 22 points on the board in the first half.

Quarterback Trevor Porter opened the scoring with a 3-yard run, while Trevor Fahr delivered a 7-yard touchdown run and Adam Wilson ran in the 2-point conversion to put Johnstown up 14-0 at the end of the opening quarter.

Johnstown closed out the scoring in the second quarter when Trey Stover hauled in a 15 yard touchdown pass from Porter and the Sir Bills added another 2-point conversion for what proved to be the final 22-0 score.

Porter finished with completed 11 of 22 attempts for 148-yards passing and threw for a touchdown and ran for a score.

Johnstown is scheduled to host Glens Falls next Friday at 7 p.m.

Broadalbin-Perth 22, Lansingburgh 16

LANSINGBURGH — Lucas Coon rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns to lead Broadalbin-Perth to its first victory of the season Friday night at Lansingburgh High School.

The Patriots (1-1) built a 22-8 lead in the fourth quarter before Lansingburgh’s Agapito Davila broke an 80-yard kickoff return and the Knights Eric Thompson ran in the 2-point conversion to cut B-P’s lead to 2216 at the final horn.

ROTTERDAM — Trey Holloway got his first start of the season and threw for two touchdowns to Lewis Fedullo to lead Amsterdam to victory Friday night at Mohonasen High School.

Fedullo finished with game with eight catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Averill Park 20, Gloversville 14

Averill Park —Dom Law broke a 4-yard run with 2:36 left in the fourth quarter to break a tie and lift Averill Park to a Class A victory Friday night at Averill Park High School.

The Huskies responded and drove 70 yards but had a its drive stopped when the Warriors defense knocked away on a fourth down play to secure the win.

Gloversville’s scores came on a 50 yard touchdown pass from William “Buck” Galster to David Taylor in the second quarter and Jared Malagisi ran the ball in from 4-yards out in the third quarter and Brent Muhlberger’s extra point kick tied the game in the third quarter.

Dolgeville 40, Mount Markham 20

WEST WINFIELD — Dolgeville shut out Mount Markham in the second half en route to its Section III Class D East victory.

Dolgeville scored a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters to extend its 24-20 halftime lead.

A three-yard run from Chase Doxtader moved the score to 32-20 in the third, and Zach Smith’s 30-yard touchdown catch from Aasin Claus took the score to its final 40-20 tally in the fourth.

Doxtader scored his first of three three touchdowns in the first quarter, plunging in from five yards out to make the score 8-0 after Nic Bailey ran in the two-point conversion.

The Mustangs responded with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Joshua Douglas to Jacob Albers, but a failed conversion attempt and an 11-yard run from Bailey made the score 16-6 after one.

In the second, Douglas scored a pair of one-yard runs on either side of a 3-yard effort by Doxtader, making the score 24-20 at the break.
