Lady Bills, Huskies drop league matches

SCOTIA — The Johnstown field hockey team dropped a Foothills Council match 1-0 in overtime to Scotia-Glenville Thursday at Scotia-Glenville High School.

Grace Purvis finished off a pass from Molly Malone with 4:51 left in the first 7v7 overtime session.

For the match, Johnstown out shot Scotia-Glenville 13-6 and held a 16-2 edge in penalty corners.

Olivia Kay made seven stops in goal for the Lady Tartans and Abby VanValkenburgh collected two stops for Johnstown.

The Lady Bills (6-2 overall, 5-2 Foothills) will travel to play Gloversville at 7 p.m. Saturday night on the new turf field at Gloversville High School.

Schuylerville 8, Gloversville 0

GLOVERSVILLE — Morgan Gunter connected for three goals,while Amanda Coleman and Alison Burnham had two apiece in the Black Horses Foothills Council victory.

Lauren Morency closed out Schuylerville’s scoring with a second-half goal.

For the match, Schuylerville out shot Gloversville 39-2 and held an 18-2 advantage in penalty corners.
