SYRACUSE — The Holy Trinity Pride rallied with 13 points in the fourth quarter but came up short 28-25 in the Class C title state championship game against Skaneateles Friday night in the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University.
The Pride came up with a pair of touchdowns in the final five minutes to close set up an exciting finish.
Holy Trinity scored with 4:45 left to play on a 14-yard pass from quarterback Joe Tortello to Jordan Mettler, and the Lakers recovered an onside kick. Skaneateles moved the ball to the Holy Trinity 15 yard line before quarterback Pat Hackler was picked off by Nacier Hundley to set up a 65-yard touchdown pass from Tortello to Noah Foster.
The Pride squibbed the ensuing kick off and the Lakers recovered the ball on their 20-yard line before runing the final seconds off the clock to lock up their first state championship.

SYRACUSE — Cambridge locked up its second-straight NYSPHSAA Class D championship Friday with a 26-14 victory over Maple Grove at the Carrier Dome.
The Indians used a solid ground game and shook off a pair of second-half turnovers to secure their second straight state title victory over the Red Dragons.
Cambridge, which finished the season 12-1, is the first Section II team to win back-to-back state football championships.
