Mayfield’s Relyea places 20th at Federation meet

WAPPINGERS FALLS — Mayfield’s Madison Relyea placed 20th overall in the girls 5K at the New York State Federation Cross-Country Championships Saturday at Bowdoin Park.

The freshman runner toured the course at the 6:13 pace to cross the finish line in 19:17.

North Rockland sophomore Katelyn Tuohy topped the field of 253 runners with her time of 16:52.4 to defeat Saratoga junior Kelsey Chmiel who finished second with a time of 17:32.5 and third-place finisher senior Hannah Reale of Shenendehowa who finished in 18:39.0.

Saratoga Springs won the girls Federation team title, edging Shenendehowa 99-109.

On the boys side Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake won the Federation team championship over Xavier 80-105.

Aidan Gillooley and Tyler Berg led the Spartans with their third and fourth place finishes in 15:59.1, while Evan Brennan finished eighth in 16:30.7. Gillooley, Berg and Brennan are all juniors.
