GHS graduate Pettit helps SUNY Cobleskill win NEAC title

COBLESKILL — The SUNY Cobleskill men’s swimming & diving team successfully defended its North Eastern Athletic Conference title, capturing their second consecutive league championship, their third in the past four seasons, by posting a score of 497 points to better a four team field at the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships hosted by the Fighting Tigers at the campus’s Bouck Hall Natatorium on Feb. 16-18.

The Fighting Tigers dominated the action by winning six individual events and three relay event titles while having 15 individual All-NEAC Team honorees along with four all-conference relay teams at the meet. 

The Orange & Black also received multiple All-NEAC efforts from senior Joslen Pettit, a Gloversville High School graduate, who closed out his stellar Cobleskill career earning All-NEAC second-team honors in the 100-yard butterfly placing second in a time of 1:02.55 and the 200-yard butterfly finishing second overall with a time of 2:27.52 to go with third-team All-NEAC honors in the 500-yard freestyle with a third-place finish in 5:56.87.

The team of Michael Giorlamo, Pettit, Sam Datri, Dan Mullen won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:49.86.

Cobleskill also received a third place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay from the team of Mohammed Azhar Ahdul Cader, Scott Parot, Elijah Ramos and Pettit in a time of 10:47.74 to earn third-team All-NEAC honors.
