GANSEVOORT — The North Eastern Athletic Conference has announced Jeremy Mowrey and Zack Simone as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s lacrosse for the week ending March 11. Both Mowrey and Simone are Johnstown High School graduates.
Mowrey, from SUNY Cobleskill, was selected as the NEAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week as the Fighting Tigers’ offensive leader in a pair of non-conference road victories. In a 12-11 win at Keystone, the senior attacker scored the game-tying goal with 39 seconds left in regulation before netting the game-winner with only 47 seconds left in overtime. For the week, Mowrey scored six goals with an assist, 12 ground balls and one caused turnover.
Simone, from Wells College, received the NEAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award with a 1-1 record in two non-conference contests for the Express last week. In a 12-9 win against Houghton on March 8, the senior goalie made 10 saves. He made nine more stops over the weekend in a loss against SUNY Delhi. Simone finished the week with a .487 save percentage.
