Several Amsterdam wrestlers named Foothills Council all-stars

Several Amsterdam wrestlers were among those named to the recently announced Foothills Council all-star team.

Sophomore Brennan Rivas (113 pounds), sophomore Nick Rodecker (132) and Mike Rieken (220) were named to the first team for the Rams, who won the Foothills Council title for the first time this season.

Eighth-grader Carlos Montalvo (99), junior Daniel Montalvo (120) and freshman Eladio Montalvo (170) were named second-team all-stars for Amsterdam, which posted a 6-0 record in Foothills Council competition.

Queensbury had five wrestlers named first-team all-stars. Ryan Sleezer (106), Dom Nassivera (182), Nico Mattia (195), Will Fraser (145) and Dave Sanders (160) all earned first-team honors for the Spartans.

Schuylerville had Orion Anderson (126), Xavier Jones ((138) and Thomas Donovan (285) named to the first team. Anderson won his third straight Division II state title this season.

Also named to the Foothills Council wrestling first team were South Glens Falls’ Brock Delsignore (120), and Hudson Falls’ Chris Petteys (99), Joe Pomainville (152) and Dametrick LaRock (170).

Queensbury’s Kaiden LaLuna (106), Dylan Sleezer (113) and Dan Brady were named second-team all-stars, while Hudson Falls had Jason Blackman (145), Nick Moore (160), Dylan Steenken (182) and Tom Hill (195) earn second-team honors.

Rounding out the second-team honorees were South Glens Falls’ Logan Barody (126), South Glens Falls’ Ethan Weller (138), Schuylerville’s Harrison Williams and Glens Falls’ Kaleb Dingmon (220).
