Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Cambridge tops Johnstown, 16-7

CAMBRIDGE — Zack Rowland finished with four goals and an assist to lead Cambridge to a 16-7 victory over Johnstown in a Wasaren League boys lacrosse contest Tuesday.

The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Sir Bills.

Maxwell Hoffer had three goals and three assists for Cambridge, Jonas Butz had three goals and two assists, Gabriel Sgambettera had two goals and two assists, and Tommy English added two goals and one assist. Jamie Olivera posted a goal and two assists for the Indians and Jacob Murray scored once.

Kerry Blackwood had two goals and an assist for Johnstown (5-2 overall, 5-2 Wasaren), while Josh Hoyt also had two goals. Trevor Murphy, Zach Serpa and Garrett Way all scored once for the Sir Bills, while Andy Sitterly added an assist.

Daniel Blanchfield made seven saves for Cambridge, while Zack Maxson made 17 stops for Johnstown.

Queensbury 20, Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM — Kyle Sokol finished with nine goals and an assist to power Queensbury to a victory over Amsterdam in a Foothills Council boys lacrosse contest at Lynch Literacy Academy.

Sean Collins scored three goals for the Spartans, who led 11-0 after one quarter.

Dawson LaLuna had two goals and two assists for Queensbury (9-1 overall, 4-0 Foothills), Nico Mattia had two goals and an assist, Alex Chrigwin had a goal and four assists and Sam Benedetto recorded a goal and three assists. Paul Wright finished with a goal and an assist for the Spartans, while Nate Stone also scored. Mitchell Jones added two assists for Queensbury.

Amsterdam slipped to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in Foothills play with the loss.
