H.S. Baseball Roundup: Fast start lifts Patriots past Sir Bills

JOHNSTOWN — A big first inning lifted Broadalbin-Perth to a 16-2 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council baseball game Friday at Johnstown High School.

The Patriots scored 11 times in the first inning on their way to the win.

Brodryk Benton had a two-run home run, single and three RBIs for Broadalbin-Perth (4-2 overall, 3-1 Foothills), while Nick Myers and Alex Gardner each had a single and a double. Myers also had three RBIs.

Benton also earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits, striking out six and walking three in 6 2/3 innings.

Matt Hinderliter was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored for B-P, while Dante Calderone and Jack Szumowski each had hits.

Trevor Porter had a double for Johnstown (1-5 overall, 0-5 Foothills), while Charlie Brown had two hits. Jarred Brown and Dawson Sanges each had singles for the Sir Bills.

Johnstown is scheduled to travel to Fonda-Fultonville today for a non-league game at noon, while Broadalbin-Perth is slated to travel to Hoosic Valley today for a 1 p.m. non-league contest.

South Glens Falls 20, Hudson Falls 3

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Justin Nesbitt had four hits and Trevor Corlew went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead South High to a Foothills Council win Friday at South Glens Falls High School.

Dan Scott had a double and Dylan Schrammel added three hits for the Bulldogs.

Ryan Carlisle and Rob Lukaszewicz had two hits apiece for Hudson Falls.

Western Athletic Conference

Fonda-Fultonville 11, Duanesburg 3

DUANESBURG — Fonda-Fultonville pushed seven runs across the plate in its final two at-bats to defeat Duanesburg 11-3 in a Western Athletic Conference showdown at Duanesburg High School.

Brady Myles went 2-for-4 for the Braves with two singles and two RBIs, while Luke Neff was 2-for-2 and Matt Zumbolo was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Boone Lynch led Duanesburg with a pair of singles, while Andre Frescher, Matt Gentile and Matt Gamache all singled.

Fonda-Fultonville (4-2 overall, 4-1 WAC) will host Johnstown today at noon.

With the loss, Duanesburg falls to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the WAC.

Mayfield 8, Canajoharie 7

PERTH — The Mayfield Panthers picked up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Owen Graf crossed home plate on a passed ball to give Mayfield the 8-7 Western Athletic Conference victory over Canajoharie Friday at the Broadalbin-Perth Middle School field.

John Fancher delivered three hits for Mayfield to go with an RBI and two runs scored, while Max Insognia picked four strong innings and Riley Mykel got the win in relief.
