SCHENECTADY — Several area tennis players will take part in the Section II singles and doubles tournaments, which begin Monday at Central Park.
In the singles tournament, Gloversville’s Damian Bruce earned the sixth seed. He will face Saratoga Springs’ Edward Towers in his opening match.
Gloversville’s Marawan Abbas will face Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Ryan Leech in his first match, while Amsterdam’s Fred Pinto will face Hadley-Luzerne’s Nick Walker in his opening contest. Amsterdam’s Zach Verde will face Ballston Spa’s Dane Anderson in his first match.
In the doubles tournament, Gloversville’s Devina Eberts and Ryan Issa will face top-seeded Boyang Zhou and Govind Chari of Bethlehem in the first round.
Gloversville’s Kaden O’Shaughnessy and Feras Masri will face Schoharie’s Jack O’Leary and Jacob Fagnani in their first match.
Amsterdam’s Spencer Flint and Mike Machold will face Saratoga Springs’ Max Jackson and Luke DeRizzo in the first round, while Amsterdam’s Reese Devine and Torin Nethaway will face Guilderland Jeffery Li and Owen Liu in the first round.
